Cooking with Weight Watchers, 1972
followmedown:
I kinda have a thing for old cookbooks. The pictures in some of them are so delightfully hideous they could very well turn you off food for life. I was having a browse at the local Salvation Army shop and came across a 1972 Weight Watchers cookbook. Ooh!
Before getting down to the business of actually making the scrumptious delights, such as the Jellied Vegetable Hors D’Oeuvre, or...
Wiiiiii
I think I just talked my mother into buying me a Wii Fit. ZOMG.
Another week down...
A 0.1kg loss this week.
Not a lot I can say about that, except I spent the week picking at stuff like peanut butter and sour cream. I blame PMS. Whatever.
I also drank too much wine last Friday night. Eh…
At least I lost something…
13.4kg lost, total.
That’s 29.5lb.
Okay.
I have a couple of milestones to reach sooner rather than later. One of them is 30lb. The other...

God, I'm so fucking bored...
…with this whole weightloss thing… I could barely force myself to log in here. I haven’t given up - not by a long shot… I just get really bloody tired of thinking about it. Maybe when J is back on the internets [c’mon Wednesday!] I’ll find my mojo again. Sigh.
I haven’t been as strict as I could be the last week or so. No huge drama, but I’ve...

Playing Catch-Up
Ehh… I didn’t feel so much like updating last week. I gained a little, which wasn’t a big deal but I just wanted a week off the weekly report. I think I was retaining fluid after having some alcohol on the Sunday night. Weigh in is Tuesday and booze always has that effect on me for at least a day or two. So, to keep up with all, here are last week’s results: Gained:...
Week Whatever
Wooo and she’s on a roll. I weighed in on Tuesday, but couldn’t be arsed posting anything about it until now. Such is the way… Loss: 1.2kg [2.6lb] Total loss: 11kg [24.2lb] Fark me, that sounds like a lot in pounds… I’ve been skipping a lot of meals. At least one a day. Mind you I am on a fairly high limit, so it’s not like I’m starving myself, but I...

10 Commandments for Dropping 10 Pounds & 10 Years →
This Week
So, I’m sick as a dog but I had a good week weightwise, because I haven’t had an appetite all week and I’ve been skipping meals… Loss: 1.5kg [3.3lb] Total loss: 9.8kg [21.6lb] I’m really pleased, I have to say. So close to 10kg now, but over 20lb, so that makes up for that. My consultant made me pick up a 10kg bag of rice… That really put things in...

Week 9?
I’m losing track of the weeks… I might give up numbering them soon… Loss: 0.8kg [1.8lb] Total Loss: 8.3kg [18.3lb] Getting back on track by the looks of things, except I had two days off the programme last week because of celebrations and I really expected to gain, if anything. Feel like I dodged a bullet… I’m feeling pretty good about things. I started my exercise...
Week 8
Just a quick one as I wish not to dwell on this… ahem. I gained 0.8kg. I think this is due to a couple of factors. Two fairly minor indiscretions on my part, and also bloating from PMS. My consultant exclaimed that I looked really puffy [thanks!], so I guess that’s something. Um.. yeah. I went for a walk on Tuesday night and I’ve been paying for it ever since with shin...

Week 7
Loss = 1.2kg [2.6lb] Total loss = 7.8kg [17lb] Wow, that was a good one. It amazes me that I can have these steady losses and I’m not really doing anything in the form of exercise. That won’t last long, though. I’ll make more of an effort when the losses slow down…. heh. I’ve lost an average of 1.1kg [2.4lb] a week. Next week could be a small one because my period...

Splenda Could Destroy Algae's Ability to Eat CO2 →
Jeebus. I found out the other day that the company who makes Splenda got in huge trouble for marketing Splenda with the slogan “Tastes like sugar, because it’s made from sugar!”. It only has 5% or less sugar… but that slogan stuck. The rest is chemicals. I still remember it to this day and I know my mother buys it because she thinks it’s healtheir.
Stevia etc
I picked up a few free magazines from the health food shop the other day, and they all have ads for that Stevia sweetener. I think I may try it. It looks very concentrated… The same company [Niravana Health Products] also makes Xylitol which is billed as a ‘natural healthy sweetener’ an is apparently 100% natural and chemical-free, although you’d never know it with a...
Herbamare
Hey, J… have you tried Herbamare? I used to use it all the time, and had forgotten about it. It’s salt with herbs in it, apparently all organic and stuff. You can buy it at the supermarket in the spices/salt section. I’m going to buy some tomorrow. It’s yum. Put it on my vegies.
The stomach saga
I think I forgot to mention that I got to the bottom of the stomach problems I’ve been having since I started JC. It’s cauliflower. I’ve been eating frozen veg due to sheer laziness and just about all the prepackaged frozen veg contain chunks of cauliflower. I didn’t have the veg for a couple of days, and lo and behold, I had no problems… Other veggies have been...
Week 6
Yah, I know I’m a bit late with this one. Not too late though, as my weigh-in day is tomorrow… Lost = 0.9kg [1.9lb] Total loss - 6.6kg [14.5lb] I’m still happy with the programme and the way things are going. I had one slight deviation this week, but I tried to make sure things were evened out. My lack of exercise is becoming a worry, but I’ll work on that. I was told...
Green Tea Weight Loss →
followmedown: If the effects are as “stunning” as this article claims, I may well try and stomach 3-4 cups of green tea a day. Pity it tastes a bit yucky. Yeah, 3-4 cups? I dunno…. For a non-tea drinker, that’s a LOT of tea… and not even very nice tea. I see quite a lot of reports that green tea is good for weightloss though. Actually, strangely enough I could actually go...
Easter
I thought I’d be staying home all weekend, but it turns out we’ll be catching up with A’s family on Sunday afternoon. At first I felt apprehensive about it, because they are big drinkers and there is always loads of yummy nibbly savoury food around when they get together, but now I’m feeling quite good about it and here’s why: It is going to be an afternoon tea,...
Week 5
Loss: 0.5kg [1.1lb] Total loss: 5.7kg [12.5lb] Well, that was a relief. The holiday diet was only slightly disastrous as I left my “dry” food at home by accident, so I had to improvise and there were a few other temptations along the way, although I did pretty well all up. I only went for a couple of decent walks, and I wouldn’t have been surprised if I hadn’t lost...
I’m hoping for a diet-friendly Easter weekend, may yours be too. ~ xx

Do commercial weight loss programs actually work? →
(via followmedown) Commercial weight-loss programs can be effective tools for weight loss, but you do need to stick with the program for at least three months to see benefits. That was the conclusion of a one-year study of men and women enrolled in the Jenny Craig Platinum program. After a month, 73% of the 60,164 people who joined the program were still enrolled. The number dropped to 42% at...
Week 4
Loss - 1.0kg (2.2lb) Total Loss - 5.2kg (11.4lb) In four weeks. I’m fairly pleased. I’m still loving JC. I don’t have a lot of energy to talk now… a bit distracted… but I just had to report. I also love converting my losses to pounds. It looks like so much more, haha. I bought a pedometer today because I know I’ll be doing a lot of walking on my holiday and...

Good Stuff
I had my Jenny Craig appointment this morning. All good news, I’m pleased to report. I’ve been a bit concerned because I didn’t do any exercise at all this week, due to feeling worn out by stress and my suspected food intolerance… which I now think might be Lactose after last night. I drank a full glass of milk (as a banana smoothie) and ate a cup of yoghurt - which is...

Artificial Sweeteners Once Again Linked to Weight... →
Dr Mercola’s comments below the article are the most interesting part of this. I’m really trying to get my head around portion sizes, rather than relying so much on artificially sweetened “diet foods”, although giving them up completely would be hard. I like water, but ALL the time? I don’t want to drink sugary drinks… and fruit juice is too calorific. ...

My weigh in day is Monday and after eating out on two occasions over the weekend for my birthday, and overindulging on wine in a big way, I lost all of 0.2 [0.44lb]. Oh, well. At least I didn’t put any on. I made a commitment this week at my appointment to exercise on the bike 3 times this week. It’s now Friday and I’ve done nothing. It’s not that I hate the bike or...

Alternate day dieting adds variety to weight loss.... →
followmedown:This is an interesting concept, and one that I could see myself using. Eat more or less what you like one day, and severely restrict what you’re eating the next. Not only that but it seems that it’s good for you. At this stage I think I’ll stick to what I’m doing. I don’t want to give up on a good thing, while it’s still working, albeit slowly. It might be something to consider...
Water won't help weight loss. →
followmedown:I’ve never found that drinking water before meals has any effect on how much I eat anyway. It does definitely make a difference to the appearance of my skin though, and my general feeling of wellbeing. This week so far.
followmedown: With each year that passes I seem to be becoming more and more aware of getting older, and everything that goes with that: illness and disease, inflexibility, muscle atrophy etc, a slow wasting away. It sounds a bit melodramatic to be thinking of these things now, but I have a sense of urgency. I don’t want looking after my health to be one of those things that I leave to the last...

They don't call her JC for nothing...
Seriously. I really do fucking love it. I lost 2.8 kilos [just over 6lb] this week and I could not eat all that food. Everyday I skipped one thing, at least… mostly just a piece of fruit, but there’s only so much fruit you can take. I’ve been having smoothies every day… heh. 90% of the food has been SO nice. Surprisingly good. I was talking to another JC member today...
followmedown:I’ve decided to stop posting on my other tumblrs, as short lived as they were anyway. I can’t seem to do things in moderation, and I found that I was spending way too long looking at peoples’ tumblrs, and finding new people to follow. It’s always been this way with me and the computer. Now that I’ve had a couple of days rest, due to feeling a bit under the weather, I realised that the...
